“…From the review of Comisión de Verdad Histórica y Nuevo Trato report, published in 2003, this article seeks to reflect on one of the theoretical and  ideological elements that has prevented to install in the State a wide perspective of intercultural recognition. It is argued that the treatment of the indigenous question in Chile has been dominated mainly by a non-pluralistic liberal perspective and by an assimilationist and integrationist indigenism.To this end, are reviewed in general, the major propposals issued by the commission’s report and, especially, the minority opinion expressed by one of the commissioners, an opinion that, despite its minority nature in said report, seems to be hegemonic regarding the action s of the Chilean State.…”
