The storyline narrates the sentimental relationship between Enrique and Silvia, two lovers who allegorically represent the two confronted Spains (he is a Falangist and she is a Republican). One of the contributions of the novel is that it not only recreates the violence during the Spanish Civil War and the post-war period but also connects it to the ideological apparatus that informed it. In that light, this paper examines the Francoist 'medical' project through the lens of Sorel's characters and how the novel symbolically subverts such a project. El presente artículo propone leer críticamente una novela de Andrés Sorel, El falan-gista vencido y desarmado (2006) a fn de abordar la relación entre la violencia discur-siva del franquismo (los discursos eugenésicos y raciales que sustentaron su aparato represivo) y la materialidad de dicha violencia (esos discursos ya puestos en prác-tica). La trama cuenta la relación sentimental entre Enrique y Silvia, dos sujetos que personifcan alegóricamente a las dos Españas enfrentadas (él es falangista y ella republicana). Una de las contribuciones de esta novela es que no sólo recrea la campaña de violencia desatada durante la Guerra Civil española y la posguerra fran-quista sino que, además, la enlaza críticamente con el entramado ideológico que le subyacía.
