Sumario:	An essay is presented which gives tribute to the expertise of author Elias L. Rivers to literary resonances throughout the centuries as well as his interest in intersections of orality and textuality. It highlights Luis de Góngora y Argote's unclassifiable long poems including "Soledad primera" and "Soledad segunda." An overview of Hispanic studies is provided.
