Sumario:	The article discusses the collaborative research project "Electronic Maps to Assist Public Science (EMAPS). Topics include theorist Bruno Latour's notion of Controversy Mapping (CM) to observe sociotechnical debates, the graphing of complexity using an atlas, and the use of actor-network diagrams. Also addressed are the roles of legibility and datascape navigation in the practice of CM, the relevance of public engagement to the process, and the use of EMAS to deal with the social cartography of public opinion.
