ab: Working outside the home is an activity that gives support to the rescue of spontaneity and creative expression but, while it can generate satisfaction, it can also be a locus of stress. Other dimensions, besides the workplace, are essential to the quality of life and are perceived as sources of balance for human beings. The purpose of this research was to carry out an exploratory study on the perceptions of 27 occupational therapists, teachers at Brazilian universities, on their daily activities. Data collection was performed through the application and analysis of two instruments: a self-applicable questionnaire and the experiencing of activities. Results provided evidence that allowed us to understand better the daily lives of the occupational therapists in the sample and the meaning of the professional activity to them. This study also showed a profile of individuals concerned with their quality of life, pointing out strategies for the balance of activities inside and outside of the workplace. Family is mentioned as an important support for good quality of life by the participants. Some remarkable differences were noticed between the weekday and weekend activity cycles, with the latter seeking to achieve the necessary balance.
