ab: Six independent publishers in the north of England have teamed up with Audiences Yorkshire, the cultural development agency, to launch a second selection of titles for the Thirst book club, as of July 18, 2003. The catalogue club, which is free to join, offers featured titles at discounts. "The discounts are very attractive and because the Government is subsidizing the scheme, nobody loses out," said Haidee Bell of Audiences Yorkshire. Tony Ward of Arc Publications, which also acts as the club's distributor, said the scheme had developed well. Audiences Yorkshire hopes to develop the scheme to include publishers outside Yorkshire, and to have an online selling facility set up by the publication of the third issue.
