The patient is a 54-year-old man who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting of four vessels. His medical history had no underlying systemic illness. At postoperative day 4th, the patient developed a rapid dermal necrosis along the midsternal and saphenous insicion. The sternum was stable to examination. The maximum body temperature of the patient was 38.4ºC; multiple microbiological stains and cultures for bacteria and fungi remained negative. The Department of Dermatology obtained two peripheral wound biopsy specimens.
