| Sumario: | Male catheterization has traditionally been the domain of the doctor and male nurse but, in modern health care, it is seen as a skill that should be part of the general nurses' education, regardless of their gender. This improves the speed of care for the male patient requiring catheterization and increases quality of care. However, the female nurse may find difficulty in asking questions about the patient's sexual health, which should be included in the assessment, and therefore this subject should be included in the nurse's education. |
