Preliminary data suggest that referral were not accepted for a number of reasons: a lack of clarity by referrers' regarding the service and its' function; referrals were not of the correct age; lack of information regarding the referral; referral considered more suitable for other services/agencies (e.g. learning disabilities) and misperception of the problem by the referrer.
