| Sumario: | Semistructured interviews were conducted with eight highly accomplished individuals with disabilities. This expert sample was selected to represent experienced sources of information and insight about historical developments in the disability rights movement and continuing challenges facing the disability community. Standard methods of narrative qualitative research were used to content-analyze the verbatim transcripts of the audiotaped interviews. Enlightening excerpts from the interviews are included in the report of these leaders' (a) greatest source of pride, (b) personal connections to the disability rights movement, (c) perceptions of the most cherished achievement of the disability community, and (d) predictions of what will be the most pressing disability issue in the year 2020. |
