      ab: Nursing professionals need a way to access and organize personal, patient-care and nursing reference information. Handheld computers are a practical solution that can make this information available at the point of care. This paper, not only reviews the major types of handheld computers and their software applications, but also recommends specific models based on nurses' needs. In addition, we describe software for handheld computers, giving special attention to three categories for nurses: data management, statistics/calculators, and nursing reference software.
