| Sumario: | Grounded theory (GT) is a systematic approach to generating theory from data obtained through social science research. Knowledge management (KM) is a systematic approach for ordering corporate data to achieve sustained optimal performance in an organization. This paper examines the extent to which GT is an effective tool in the KM process. In other words, KM possesses an arsenal of management strategies, and GT is a possible management strategy. The difference between GT and other management strategies is GT's basis in empirical data and its emphasis on the real-life experiences of subjects. GT illustrations are taken from the literature of library and information science. The author concludes that GT can effectively be used as a tool by knowledge managers. |
