| Sumario: | Internet popularization is a contributing factor for the equity in health information dissemination. Ethical issues related to the quality of information are emerging into this new arena. This paper aims to present available methods for assessing health information published on the Internet. Attributing methods include the application of ethical codes during Web site conceptual modeling and development phases. Rating methods include computer programs used for filtering and labeling health-related Web site content. Electronic experts panel and self-assessment by the user are other approaches discussed as measures to assess the quality of health information available on the Internet.
