| Sumario: | The advent of dry-chemistry cholesterol analysis has made cholesterol testing feasible in a variety of settings. The Reflotron System, recalibrated in 1987 to improve accuracy, is the machine in widest use. This article reviews subsequent reports of the accuracy of the method and machine and their suitability for cholesterol testing. Testing may be conducted in a variety of settings by lay workers, reducing cost and increasing access. When accompanied by education, testing holds promise for reduction in risk of cardiovascular disease. |
