The attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of these two groups were compared. While perceived severity of AIDS was high for both groups, perceived threat of AIDS was higher for the STD clinic patients, as were behavioral intentions to use condoms in the future. In both groups, females and acquaintances of gays expressed more tolerant attitudes related to AIDS.
