| Sumario: | This is the first of a two-part article that describes the development of a textbook coding tool. The tool is designed to measure those structures in textbooks that help students process information and promote higher level learning. The textbook tool is useful for coding most expository textbooks used in nursing programs or those from other disciplines. It may also be used in evaluating computer programs designed to stimulate analytic thinking. In the January/February 1989 issue, the second part of this article will discuss the use of the tool for content analysis of five adult health nursing textbooks. |
