| Sumario: | The article discusses the use of wood as a construction material in tall and mid-size buildings. Particular focus is given to large timber structures made from engineered wood products such as glue-laminated (glulam) beams and posts and laminated strand lumber (LSL). According to the author, wood is becoming more attractive to architects because it is a renewable material and can rest on smaller and less expensive foundations than heavier materials. The Treet timber tower in Norway is discussed. |
