| Sumario: | The fullest prevalence study on dysphagia in geriatric institutions in Germany shows high prevalence of severe and moderately severe dysphagia (Rittig & Jäger 2009). The Dysphagia-Passport has been developed in order to improve multiprofessional treatment. It can be an effective means of communication for all medical professions and therapists involved, equally in acute treatment and rehabilitation clinics. The Dysphagia- Passport also provides support to patients and their families. It increases awareness and compliance as a part of diagnostics, therapy intervention and goals that are to be reached. It also helps to reduce costs and complications caused by multiple medical examinations and misleading therapy approaches according to process optimisation and improved living quality, autonomy and compliance. |
