The role of EBUS is progressively expanding to include the evaluation of peribronchial lesions, pulmonary nodules, and other mediastinal abnormalities. Recently, EBUS has assisted in the diagnosis of many other disease entities, including malignancies and various infections such as tuberculosis and sarcoidosis.
