Sumario:As a result of globalization, competition in the level of economic development among the countries world wide is increasing. In developed economies, cost advantages and advanced technological levels etc. İs providing for economic development. However, this is not the case for developing economies. To resolve this problem for developing economies, one has to indetify leading sectors and direct investments into these areas. Also please note that due to lack of industrialization in developing countries, it is only possible to evaluate the economic development of developing countries by their tourism potential. The tourism sector plays an important role in improving a country's balance of payments as it ensures foreign Exchange entry during periods of crises reducing foreign trade deficits as well as providing for employment. In this study, the tourism sector positioning and importance for Turkey is analyzed by using tourism income and Gross Domestic Product data for the years 2002 to 2014. The model created for the study will be analyzing the coefficient estimates obtained by "The Smallest Squares Method" and will investigate the existence of a causal relationship between variables and causal analysis. By following an environmentally compliant, competitive and sustainable reforming policies, tourism revenues in Turkey can further increase in future years in line with increasing number of tourists. Going forward, Turkey's tourism sector could potentially increase its share globally. This will contribute to the promotion of social welfare in Turkey.
