| Sumario: | Some studies have discussed the importance and the effect of social media on Kuwaitis' social life. The major objective of this study is to investigate the importance of using social media (Twitter) among faculty members at Kuwait University and The Basic Education College, the two major higher education institutions in Kuwait. A total of 206 Kuwaiti faculty members' respondents (155 male and 51 female) was selected by using a nonrandom opportunistic sample. Questionnaire was the major tool of this study. Questions related demographic variables and using Twitter in the daily life was included. Some scales developed for this study are used: the Information Importance of Using Twitter, Social Contact Scale through Twitter, Intensity of Twitter Using, Positive Twitter Using Scale, and Degree of Twitter Using Scale. Descriptive statistics, t-test, Chi-Square Pearson correlation, and a multivariate regression. Data show that there is a significant difference between male and female respondents in regards to the importance of information in Twitter use, social contact through Twitter, intensity of Twitter use, positive Twitter use, and degree of Twitter use in daily life. A relationship between the importance of information in Twitter use and some social and demographic variables was found.
