Sumario:The Reading Agency is rallying publishers to support a new initiative aimed at increasing their work with libraries and nurturing more readers. The agency has asked for financial backing for a pilot post to bridge publishing and the public library sector. The incumbent will have a brief to devise cross-sector partnerships, such as building networks of libraries for author tours and reading groups. Publishers providing funds will receive tailored packages of benefits, including advice on specific plans for working with authors, briefings on new library projects and access to borrowing data collected by the Public Lending Right. Miranda McKearney, director of the Reading Agency, said the partnership would help to transform the way publishers used libraries to promote books and reading.
