In this era of information and technology, much of the information is produced and stored in computer environments. In particular, the emergence of e-books in recent years has made it essential to conduct studies in this area. The aim of this study was to examine 10th and 11th grade high school students' attitudes towards e-book reading based on certain variables. For data gathering, the Scale of Attitudes towards Reading E-Books (SATRE) developed by the researchers. The first sub-factor of the scale, "positive features", consisted of 17 items, and the second sub-factor, "differences", included 9 items. In the study, survey design, a quantitative research design, was employed. The scale was administered to 1191 10th and 11th grade students (Female=623, Male=568) in the 8 cities (Ankara, İzmir, Hatay, Samsun, Mersin, Kayseri, Rize, Diyarbakır) within the Fatih project. The Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was 0,93. The results of the study showed that there was no significant difference found between female and male students' attitudes towards reading e-books in the whole scale and the sub-dimensions. In other words, the gender variable did not affect the attitudes towards reading e-books. However, there was a significant difference between students' preferences of reading e-books or printed books in their free time. For the whole scale and the sub-factor "differences", there was a significant difference in 10th and 11th graders' attitudes towards reading e-books. 11th graders' attitudes were more positive than those of the 10th graders. As for the city variable, there was a significant difference in favor of the students living in Hatay, Ankara, İzmir, Diyarbakır and Mersin. In Turkey where the use of e-books is quite new, conducting studies that examine whether reading e-books affects attitudes towards reading would contribute to the literature.
E-kitap okumanýn oldukça yeni olduðu ülkemizde eðitimin her kademesinde ekitap okumanýn okumaya yönelik tutumu etkileyip etkilemediðine iliþkin araþtýrmalar yapýlmasý alan yazýna katký saðlayacaktýr.
