Summary:The article presents research on using optical, acoustic, and thermal "side channels" as a means of monitoring personal computers with the goal of breaking their cryptographic security protocols. The leaking of cryptographic information due to computers' varying acoustic, electrical, and electromagnetic properties can allegedly be used to decrypt RSA algorithms and ElGamal keys and methods to prevent side channel attacks are presented.
