Since its foundation the network has had the mission of benefiting solidarity, multilateralism, and joint collaboration among institutions from different developmental level. The tutorial PhD program in Biological Sciences and the PhD curricular program in Molecular Biosciences of the Biological Faculty from the UH were included to the network RIABIN in December 2009. This integration has made possible stable and permanent relations with the rest of network members through interchanges of professors, research stay of PhD students and postgraduate courses. As consequence of this a set of connections and academic mobility have been structured among the different universities. The PhD program in Molecular Biosciences organized two courses at the UH: Proteomic (2011) and Immunotherapy and Vaccinology (2013) with the attendance of 20 specialists and more than 50 students from different countries of the region. On the other hand, during the last three years the PhD programs, in the tutorial and curricular versions, have graduated a total of 48 PhD students, a part of them benefited by academic activities that have been supported by the network RIABIN. La Red Iberoamericana de Biotecnología Isla Negra (RIABIN) pertenece al Programa Pablo Neruda aprobado como iniciativa Iberoamericana por la XVII Cumbre Iberoamericana de Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno celebrada en Chile en noviembre de 2007. Esta red está integrada actualmente por 16 universidades de 9 países de la región. Desde su fundación, RIABIN ha tenido como misión beneficiar la multilateralidad, la cooperación mutua entre instituciones de diferente grado de desarrollo y la solidaridad. El Programa de doctorado tutelar de Ciencias Biológicas y programa curricular en Biociencias Moleculares de la Facultad de Biología de la Universidad de La Habana se incorporaron a la Red RIABIN en diciembre del 2009. Esta integración ha posibilitado conexiones estables y permanentes con el resto de los miembros de la Red a través de intercambios de profesores, estancias de investigación de doctorandos y cursos de postgrado. Esto ha permitido la estructuración de una malla de interacciones y una movilidad académica entre las distintas universidades. El programa de doctorado de Biociencias Moleculares organizó dos cursos en la Universidad de La Habana: Proteómica (2011) e Inmunoterapia y Vacunología (2013) con la participación de 20 especialistas y más de 50 estudiantes de diferentes países de la región.
