Cet article se penche sur le récit irlandais du roi semi-historique Niall Frossach, qui aurait tranché sur la paternité d'un enfant apparemment conçu des suites d'un acte sexuel entre deux femmes, avec comme dénouement la délivrance d'un prêtre apostat d'Inis Boffin de la torture démoniaque. Le contexte culturel et les implications de cette légende du point de vue juridique nous permettent de comprendre les moeurs sexuelles des irlandais de l'ère médiévale, et comment celles-ci sont non seulement représentées mais défendues dans le récit.
