| Sumario: | In this paper the relationship between the notion of symmetry and that of qualitativity is examined. In particular, it is argued that, on the standard construal of the notion of qualitativity, a widely-held view about the relationship between these two notions is mistaken. However, it is argued that on a nonstandard construal of the notion of qualitativity due to Ismael and van Fraassen (2003), the claimed relationship between the two notions holds much more promise. The paper ends with an attempt to build and improve upon Ismael and van Fraassen's own account of the notion of qualitativity relevant to the notion of symmetry.
