However, the literature considers acceptable a set of requirements including maximum intercuspation coincident or very close to the stable condylar position; stable, bilateral, and symmetrical occlusal contacts; absence of contacts in mediotrusion; no posterior contacts in protrusion and group function or canine guidance in the working side. Clinical procedures in evaluating these requirements are limited because they cannot assess bilateral balance of forces, nor the force delivered by each tooth, nor quantify functional parameters such as occlusion and disclusion time. Dynamic occlusal events can be quantified by using T-Scan III system, which provides progressive real-time information that is very helpful in performing occlusal adjustment procedures. Los aspectos funcionales de la oclusión tras el tratamiento ortodóncico están sujetos a controversia. No obstante, la literatura considera aceptable un conjunto de requisitos que incluye: a) máxima intercuspidación coincidente o muy próxima a la posición condilar estable; b) contactos oclusales estables, bilaterales y simétricos; c) ausencia de contactos en el lado de no trabajo; d) ausencia de contactos posteriores en protrusiva, y e) función de grupo o función canina en movimientos de lateralidad. Los procedimientos clínicos para la evaluación de estos requisitos son limitados y no permiten evaluar el equilibrio de las cargas sobre la tabla oclusal ni la fuerza ejercida individualmente por cada diente, ni cuantificar parámetros funcionales como el tiempo de oclusión y disclusión.
