| Sumario: | THIS PAPER examines the proposition that at least two of the churches and chapels dedicated to St Clement and St Olave in Norwich might have been related to naval garrisons established by Aethelred or Cnut. By an examination of the archaeological, topographical and building evidence for the area of Norwich where these dedications coincided with the town’s port, a chronological and spatial model is advanced which broadly supports the possibility. |
