This has given bioethics tools for reflecting on the justification for so-called Fourth Generation Human Rights. Starting with the doctrine of two levels by Diego Gracia (1996), part of the study of the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights UNESCO 2005 is advanced, making an attempt to classify the principles contained therein regarding the preservation of life and human dignity. It is argued that the dilemmas accompanying biogenetic experimentation suggest a legal doctrine that seeks to protect human dignity from the vulnerability to which it is exposed by motives of uncovering the genetic code. Based on a disquisition on the so-called generations of human rights, bioethical foundations for the fourth generation of those rights are reconstructed. Finally, a twentyfirst-century citizenship, formed on the principalist postulates of bioethics, is set forth that sees science from the viewpoint of preserving the human species and as a guarantee for the rights of future generations, thereby upholding the concept of intergenerational responsibility, which has great significance for ethics and for life. La experimentación biogenética ha transformado la manera de ver la vida desde el develamiento del genoma humano. Ello le ha dado a la bioética herramientas para la reflexión sobre la justificación de los llamados Derechos Humanos de Cuarta Generación. A partir de la doctrina de los dos niveles de Diego Gracia (1996), se adelanta parte del estudio de la Declaración Universal sobre Bioética y Derechos Humanos de UNESCO 2005, realizándose un intento de clasificación de los principios en ella contenidos para la preservación de la vida y de la dignidad del ser humano. Se argumenta que los dilemas que vienen acompañando la experimentación biogenética, permiten pensar en una doctrina jurídica que intente proteger la dignidad del ser humano proveniente de la vulnerabilidad a la que se ve expuesta por motivos del descubrimiento del código genético. A partir de una disquisición sobre las llamadas generaciones de los derechos humanos, se reconstruyen los basamentos bioéticos de la cuarta generación.
