| Summary: | The first face transplantation was performed during 2005 in France. According to the latest record, 28 face transplantations have been performed until now. The aesthetic and functional results achieved are considered very good. Psychological and social reintegration results are also considered excellent. Some patients have been even able to go back to work. If we considered that this surgery is defined as a therapeutic procedure in experimental phase, the results are auspicious. El primer trasplante de cara fue hecho el año 2005 en Francia. De acuerdo a los últimos registros, se han efectuado hasta ahora otros 27. Los resultados estéticos y funcionales conseguidos se consideran muy buenos. Así mismo, los logros en cuanto a mejoría psicológica y reintegración social han sido excelentes. Incluso, algunos pacientes han conseguido volver al ámbito laboral. Si consideramos que esta cirugía está definida como un procedimiento terapéutico en fase experimental, los resultados son muy auspiciosos. |
