Therefore resumes debate between determinism and chance through a route extending from the Greek mythical narratives about the passage from chaos to order up to the current world dominated by encrypted programs. This objective exposure assess the extent to which freedom is still a plausible notion to refer to human thought, when making reference to the attempts to reduce it to its logical and mathematical aspects. Examination that points to some of the possible implications present in the formation of singular intellective experiences when computer programs replace the man in the performance of cognitive activities. At the end of text are redeemed critical reflections of the philosopher Theodor Adorno about the potential of thought, thinking their own lack of freedom, resists its reduction to mathematical methods playable on machines. Este artigo exibe uma discussão a respeito de elementos históricos e conceituais que auxiliam a compreensão acerca da atividade do pensamento, para além de suas determinações causais e mecânicas. Para tanto, retoma a discussão entre determinismo e acaso através de um percurso que se estende das narrativas míticas gregas a respeito da passagem do caos à ordem até o mundo atual dominado por programas codificados. Tal exposição objetiva avaliar em que medida a liberdade ainda representa uma noção plausível para nos referirmos ao pensamento humano, ao tomarmos como referência as tentativas de reduzi-lo aos seus aspectos lógicos e matemáticos. Exame que aponta para algumas das possíveis implicações presentes na formação de experiências intelectivas singulares quando programas computacionais substituem o homem na execução de atividades cognitivas.
