Individuals whose speech skills are nor developed would experience communication problems with the society. The objective of the present study is to determine whether the speech related anxieties of pre-service social studies teachers differed based on certain variables. Study group included 175 pre-service teachers attending Fırat University, Faculty of Education, Social Studies Teaching Department in 2015 - 2016 academic year fall semester. Majority of the participating pre-service teachers were female (91 females, 84 males). Only voluntary participants were included in the study. Survey model, which is a dimension of quantitative research methodology, was used in the study. Five-point Likert-type anxiety scale developed by Oğuzhan Sevim (2012) that included 20 items was used as the data collection tool in the study. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 17.00 software. Level of significance was accepted as .05 in data comparison. “T-test” was used in comparison of dual groups in the study, while one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used when comparing more than two groups. Study findings demonstrated that speech related anxieties of pre-service social studies teachers did not statistically significantly differ based on “gender” and “class” variables, however, there was a statistically difference between their anxiety levels based on “growing up in a democratic, free family” and “the location the pre-service teacher was raised in” variables. Thus, remedial measures for pre-service teachers with high speech anxiety and organization of activities to decrease speech anxiety especially in faculties of education could help removal of this problem. İnsanı diğer canlılardan farklı kılan en önemli özelliklerden biri konuşma becerisidir. Bu becerisi gelişmemiş olan bireyler toplumla iletişim kurmakta sorun yaşarlar. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının konuşma ile ilgili kaygılarının bazı değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini tespit etmektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılı, güz döneminde öğrenim görmekte olan Fırat Üniversitesi, eğitim fakültesi, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenliği anabilim dalındaki 175 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmaya katılan öğretmen adaylarının çoğunluğunu kızlar oluşturmuştur (91 kız, 84 Erkek). Araştırmaya katılımda gönüllülük esası dikkate alınmıştır. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yaklaşımının bir boyutu olan tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, Oğuzhan Sevim (2012) tarafından geliştirilen 20 maddelik, 5'li likert tipi konuşma kaygı ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizleri SPSS 17.00 programıyla yapılmıştır. Verilerin karşılaştırılmasında anlamlılık düzeyi ,05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde ikili gruplarda’'t-testi'', ikiden fazla olan gruplarda ise tek yönlü varyans analizi (Anova) kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının konuşma ile ilgili kaygıları “Cinsiyet ve Sınıf ”değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık ortaya koymamaktadır; ancak “Demokratik ve özgür bir ailede yetişme ile Doğup büyüdüğü mekan” değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık ortaya koyduğu görülmüştür.
