        Objectives. To determine the relationship between quality of life and caries experience in patients treated at the Dental Clinic of the San Martin de Porres University - Chiclayo Branch, between the months of March and April 2015. Materials and Methods. This study has characteristics of a non-experimental and quantitative study, with descriptive correlational and cross-sectional design. 110 adults patients were evaluated, through the use of stomatology sheets and the quality of life questionnaire WHOQOL - Bref previously validated. The Spearman correlation coefficient to determine the possible association was used. Results. It was determined that 57.27 % of patients with dental caries experience also have moderate quality of life. From the Spearman correlation coefficient was obtained: rho = 0.56 (p < 0.05) which indicates a moderate relationship between quality of life and caries experience. Conclusions. A moderate association between dental caries experience and quality of life was determined in 110 adults patients treated at the Dental Clinic of the San Martin de Porres University – Chiclayo Branch between March and April 2015.
        Objetivos. Determinar la relación entre calidad de vida y experiencia de caries en pacientes atendidos en la Clínica Odontológica de la Universidad de San Martín de Porres – Filial Chiclayo, entre los meses de marzo y abril de 2015. Materiales y métodos. El presente estudio tiene características de un estudio no experimental y cuantitativo, con diseño descriptivo correlacional y de corte transversal. Se evaluaron 110 pacientes mayores de edad, a través de fichas estomatológicas y el cuestionario de calidad de vida Whoqol – Bref previamente validado. Se empleó coeficiente de correlación de Spearman para determinar la posible asociación. Resultados. Se determinó que el 57,27% de pacientes que presentan experiencia de caries dental también presentan una moderada calidad de vida. A partir del coeficiente de correlación de Spearman, se obtuvo: rho = 0,56 (p < 0,05) lo cual indica una relación moderada entre las variables calidad de vida y experiencia de caries. Conclusiones. Se determinó una asociación moderada entre experiencia de caries dental y calidad de vida en 110 pacientes mayores de edad atendidos en la Clínica Odontológica de la Universidad de San Martín de Porres – Filial Chiclayo, entre marzo y abril del año 2015.
