Bookseller, The (Book) Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation (Book) King of Torts, The (Book) Autobiography, The (Book) Books ab: Booksellers in Great Britain were keeping their fingers crossed for the traditional late surge in Christmas sales as the book "The Bookseller" went to press. Sales through the international book sales data monitoring company Nielsen BookScan's General Retail Market (GRM) in the final full week, to 20th December 2003, were worth £55.5m, down by 1.6% on the total of £56.4m in the corresponding week in 2002. It pushed total GRM sales for 2003 past the £1bn barrier with a week to spare. Sales by volume fell 0.4% to 6.4 million units. The publishers Profile Books and Lynne Truss completed their remarkable end to 2003 with the Christmas number one spot for the book "Eats, Shoots & Leaves," which sold 124,170 copies. In second, third and fourth places respectively were John Grisham's book "The King of Torts," Martin Johnson's "The Autobiography" and "How Clean Is Your House," by Michael Joseph. pubtype: Trade Publication doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: Y custom: Copyright of Bookseller is the property of Bookseller Media Ltd and its content may not be copied or emailed to multiple sites without the copyright holder's express written permission.
