| Sumario: | Conversion disorder is a mental disorder that manifests as altered sensory or motor function in the absence of a corresponding medical diagnosis. It is regularly encountered in medical rather than psychiatric settings. Functional vision loss due to conversion disorder should be considered when visual complaints are present in the context of normal ocular health. It is important for optometrists to have an understanding of conversion disorder in order to reach a diagnosis and to initiate appropriate management promptly, while also excluding the possibility of other neurological or ocular disease. |
