Sumario:The article offers information on the comic writings of Epicharmus and the literary and textual criticism of exegesis, linguistics and stylistics in Sicily and South Italy during 5th and 6th century. Topics discussed include the philological studies during the period, the use of the writings of Homer for criticism in Sicily, and singer Xenophanes of Colophon, who was a contemporary of Epicharmus. Also mentioned are the works of lyric poet Stesichorus of Himera.
