It was used the relational search model in this study. The participants of the study totalled 112 students were selected by the convenience sampling technique and enrolled in Gaziantep University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Turkish Language and Literature. "Communication skill inventory" and "Self-assessment Grid for Verbal Expression" were used in collecting data. In the study, the answers were sought to search levels of communication skills and verbal expression skills of the students studying at Department of Turkish Language and Literature; whether or not any significant difference on the levels of their communication skills and verbal expression skills by gender; whether or not any significant relationship on their communication skills and verbal expression skills. Descriptive and relational statistics techniques were utilized in data analysis. It was concluded in the study that the students had the high levels of general, mental and behavioural communication skills but intermediate at verbal expression skills; there were a significant difference among their general communication skills but insignificant difference among their verbal expression skills by gender and there was a relationship developing in positive direction between their communication and verbal expression skills. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü öğrencilerinin iletişim ve sözlü anlatım beceri düzeylerini belirlemek ve her iki beceri düzeyi arasında ilişki bulunup bulunmadığını incelemektir. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Katılımcılar Gaziantep Üniversitesi Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümünde 2015-2016 öğretim yılında dördüncü sınıfta okuyan, Pedagojik Formasyon Eğitimi alan, gönüllü olarak çalışmaya katılan ve kolay ulaşılabilir örnekleme tekniğiyle seçilen, yaşları 24-27 arasında değişen 67 kız ve 45 erkek olmak üzere toplam 112 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında Ersanlı ve Balcı tarafından geliştirilen İletişim Becerileri Envanteri ile Sözlü Anlatım Öz-Değerlendirme Formu kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada, Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü öğrencilerinin iletişim becerilerinin ve sözlü anlatım becerilerinin hangi düzeylerde olduğu, iletişim ve sözlü anlatım becerilerinde cinsiyete göre anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığı, öğrencilerin iletişim becerileriyle sözlü anlatım becerileri arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olup olmadığı sorularına cevap aranmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel ve ilişkisel istatistik tekniklerinden yararlanılmış; SPSS 16.0 analiz programı kullanılmıştır.
