All of the greatest thinkers of this tradition have studied this capital theme which from the core of the catholic theology opens new roads on metaphysical and anthropological speculations. This paper investigate the question of personality and subsistentia on the great Spanish humanist fray Luis de Leon from his lessons on the first book of The Sentences of Peter Lombard, published a few years ago. In this manner the paper aims to present the philosophical work of fray Luis who drinks originally and rigorously from the best sources of the scholastic philosophy. The detailed study of this matter allow us to see in The Master Leon a deep and methodical thinker, who have a deeply knowledge of old and new philosophy with the manifest desire to illustrate and deepen the knowledge of Christian revelation. La discusión en torno al constitutivo formal de la persona es, sin duda, una de las más complejas y relevantes que se han dado a partir del pensamiento escolástico. Gran parte de los pensadores de la escuela han abordado esta capital cuestión que, a partir del meollo de la teología católica, abre surcos originales en la especulación metafísica y antropológica posterior. El presente trabajo busca abordar la cuestión de la personalidad o subsistencia en el pensamiento del gran humanista español fray Luis de León a partir de sus lecciones -hasta hace muy poco inéditas- sobre el libro primero de las Sentencias de Pedro Lombardo. Se quiere dar a conocer así más ampliamente la labor filosófica de este pensador que bebe con originalidad y rigor de las mejores fuentes del pensamiento escolástico.
