Specifically, the technical worker of the metalworking industry requires the training in the necessary competencies and that is pertinent with the requirements of the labor sector through the educational institutions at technical level, both public and private. Through this article, coming from a documental research, gave the opportunity to learn about the characteristics of the metalworking industry in the state of Nuevo León, also, the evolution of the technical education and the training of the technical worker of this industrial sector under the competency-based educational model are reflected. La industria metalmecánica es uno de los pilares de la economía del estado de Nuevo León, y para que este sector industrial mantenga su competitividad, entre otros factores, es necesario contar con un recurso humano altamente calificado. Específicamente el trabajador técnico de la industria metalmecánica requiere la capacitación en las competencias necesarias y pertinentes con los requerimientos del sector laboral a través de las instituciones educativas a nivel técnico, tanto pública como privada.
