        La veracidad del auto de fe de Orosia Moreno, un suceso mencionado y representado por Goya en una hoja perteneciente a su Álbum C de dibujos, ha sido cuestionada durante décadas. La confirmación documental de que se trata de un acontecimiento real que tuvo lugar durante la niñez de Goya clarifica las circunstancias que rodean a la escena y el dibujo que la ilustra. Asimismo, la alusión por parte de Goya a un acontecimiento trascurrido medio siglo antes sugiere la pertinencia de un análisis comparativo de su uso estratégico de la memoria como marco desde el que interpretar el presente.
