| Sumario: | The Fourier transform of an image can be measured or filtered to provide information concerning the distribution and orientation of features in that image. Illustrative examples of the technique are drawn from geomorphology, planning, and remote sensing. The first application concentrates on the analysis of fault systems, sediment textures, and drainage patterns. A rural area illustrates partial solution of an amenity planning problem by optical methods. A significant application of transform analysis to field work is the measurement and recording of data on photographs. |
