| Summary: | This study derived its credence from the surge of public health related problems caused by the recent economic crisis in Nigeria, and its possible consequences on neighbouring West African nations. It investigates the nexus between public health status and the social economic standards in Nigeria with the intention to unravel how economic crisis contributes to the prevalence of health related problems such as mental illness, hypertension, stress, among others, and why a solution may become sluggish due to the increase people living with the aforementioned health problems. Hence, the study conscientiously suggests how to address the identified challenges and prevent it from snowballing in other West African nations.
