In response to scandals such as Winterbourne View, which saw care home staff jailed for abusing residents, the Transforming Care agenda and the PBS Academy have encouraged the development of standardised practice. This article describes how the PBS standards developed by the academy were audited in an assessment and treatment unit (ATU).
