In this context Francisca Montaut obtained herMD titlein 1929, after nine years of perseverance. Professional performance surely was not easy for those first young women, who perhaps for that reason embraced pediatrics. After her other girls increased women's contribution to professional practice, and nowadays the proportion of male-to-female has been reversed in the classrooms and health services. However, in some specialties the female participation remains marginal.
        La carrera de medicina duraba seis años y entre un estudiantado casi exclusivamente masculino y una sociedad poco permeable para las aspiraciones profesionales de las mujeres para quienes estaban reservados otros roles, en 1929 Francisca Montaut alcanzó su título tras nueve años de perseverancia. El desempeño profesional tampoco debió ser sencillo para esas primeras muchachas que quizás por tal razón abrazaron la pediatría. Tras de ella otras jóvenes fueron aumentando la contribución femenina al ejercicio profesional, hasta invertir la proporción de mujeres y varones en las aulas y algunos servicios de salud. Sin embargo, en algunas especialidades la participación sigue siendo marginal.
