However, since the eighties at the Central University of Venezuela and especially at the University of Los Andes, efforts have been made to confront such ignorance about the Chinese historical development; this has been carried out thanks to an inexhaustible work of teaching and research from the spaces created for the exchange of knowledge. Nuestro país ha mantenido importantes lazos de cooperación política y económica desde los años setenta con la República Popular China (y se han ido incrementando durante las últimas dos décadas), pero la academia venezolana presenta un vacío en los estudios sobre el gigante asiático.
