Objective: The purpose of this research was to identify the myths and beliefs of tuberculosis (TB) in health personnel of the Service Provider Institutions (IPS) of the municipality of Palmira-Valle. Methods: It was a quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional study, aimed at health personnel who are in charge of the TB program. The sample was probabilistic through simple random sampling. Results and discussion: The results showed that more than 90% do not believe in many of the myths that have been woven about this disease. Some results showed that if the sick person should be isolated from the family and community 100% of the respondents determined that it is a myth. Very different results to that found in the study by Cruz Martínez, Flórez Suancha and Muñoz where 25% of the population considers that the patient should be isolated. Conclusions: It is important to mention that the respondents do not believe that the patient with TB should be isolated and that he feels good attending to a patient with TB but taking due precautions. This can be considered as a positive aspect because it allows us to offer a humane treatment.
