That said, the author has put much thought into presenting the mathematics in an accessible format supported with useful accompanying diagrams and pointers when pre-assumed background theory is not covered explicitly within the text itself. As the reader progresses they will be introduced to scattering theory for buried targets (Chapters 4-6 and 11) and how this leads through the Born approximation (Chapter 8) to consideration of diffraction tomography (Chapters 9 and 12) and migration for both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) cases (Chapters 10 and 13) and an alternative approach through Singular Value Decomposition (Chapter 14).
