ab: Achieving postsecondary education is a goal that many youth with foster care experience have, but struggle to achieve. This study uses data from the National Youth in Transition Database to examine factors associated with postsecondary engagement by age 19 for 1,860 youth with foster care experience. The 34 factors examined include a variety of demographic, historical, recent experience, and service utilization variables. A series of bivariate and multiple regression analyses resulted in a model including nine factors associated with postsecondary engagement. This study’s results are compared with those from smaller studies that look at similar factors.
