ab: The article deals with the consideration of lituanisms in the history of the Ukrainian language as determinants of cultural and language contacts. For these lituanisms simultaneously represent the result and productive factor in the dynamics of Lithuanian-Ukrainian relations (political, social and economic, historical and cultural, etc.). Particular attention is paid to the Lithuanian- Ukrainian ethnic and language interaction in the period of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. As a result, a significant amount of lituanisms appear in Ukrainian written sources of the 16-17 centuries of the later period, as is illustrated by the examples from multigenre sources. The cited factual language material represents the dynamics of the lexical composition of the recipient language (Ukrainian) at the diachronic level. The influence of borrowings from the Lithuanian language is postulated not only on the lexicon of the Ukrainian language but also on the formation of its literary form and on the language / communicative consciousness of Ukrainians. The latter position requires an appeal both to the genetic code of the baltic-slavic language / ethnocultural unity and to the fruitful development of the Lithuanian-Ukrainian interaction in the cultural, scientific and educational sectors.
